The elusive, quaint, little restaurant
that's named after its address in Sto. Nino Village has now moved to greener
pastures at Oakridge Business Park. Keeping the same name, 10 Dove Street
has built its nest in a more accessible location where parking is no longer a
problem and accommodation is slightly larger, occupying two floors now. If
you'd like to see the original restaurant, I wrote about it for my Cebu Secret Chows. Just click this link: Ten Dove St.
Word had spread quickly about 10 Dove's
new location and I was raring to visit. Fortunately, I was invited by the
management for dinner just a week after their soft opening. My dinner date
was none other than one of my favorite piggies, Mustachio! Little
did Mustachio know he would be one of the lucky ones to witness my subtly
monstrous appetite. ;)
Though under a new management,
much of the details of this beloved restaurant is retained, interior and
menu-wise - the interior is country chic with comfortable upholstery, the
delectable cakes are still regally sitting on the counter, and best of all,
full table service that serves each course in sequence. Thus, dining here still
evokes comforting warmth and nostalgia from home-cooked meals in a laid-back
ambience.
Known for their set menu, they now
offer two choices - The 10 Dove Street Experience (P250) and Kitchen
Favorites (P275) - which give you the option of having either a sandwich or
a meat dish with rice for your main course. The 10 Dove Street
Experience is a 4-course meal that includes Soup, Salad, Sandwich, and
Dessert whilst Kitchen Favorites is a 3-course meal that includes Soup,
Entree, and Dessert.
Since Mustachio is on a fitness
mission, he had the 10 Dove Street Experience while I had the Kitchen
Favorites. Let's see if he doesn't crack from my eating exhibition.
For the set meals, diners select from
an extensive list for each course. I love how they serve each course in
sequence to allow diners to pace themselves and truly savor their meal. It
really helps prevent from neglecting any dish especially when the entree is too
good. ;)
Starting off with soup, I had
Broccoli & Cheese while Mustachio had Crab & Corn.

The consistency and flavor was exactly
how I had it at the original location. These are decent soups that leave you
anticipating for the next courses. I love that they generously add grated
parmesan cheese in these.
Among the salads, Mustachio took my
suggestion which was the Salad Tropicale while I had the Pancheco Salad.
Left: Salad Tropicale - lettuce greens, apples, dried cranberry, candied walnuts, red onions, feta cheese, croutons, raspberry vinaigrette
Right: Pancheco Salad - lettuce greens, grapes, tuna flakes, celery, red onions, tomatoes, walnuts, mango vinaigrette
I am not too fond of canned tuna but I
appreciated the right amount of celery they added to the Pancheco Salad. The
vinaigrette was a lovely companion, too. The Salad Tropicale was a winner
though! Oh, who doesn't love candied walnuts, dried cranberries, and feta
cheese?! Everything about this salad was just fantastic. Now, why didn't I take
my suggestion? :))
And now for the entree… I couldn't
settle for just one because finding lasagna in a menu always tugs at my
heart and I still wanted to try their roast beef, too. Thanks to sponsored
meals such as these, I can have whatever my heart tummy desires. The
waiter was kind enough to call my lasagna a "side dish". This double
entree move was what I meant by my eating exhibition. Hihihi! Meanwhile, Mustachio
had a Chicken Waldorf Sandwich. Poor fellow.

My lasagna came first and I somehow
felt a bit guilty seeing how huge it was. The first spoonful affirmed the right
decision though. It was the epitome of comfort food. The meat-to-cheese ratio
was perfect and the tomato sauce wasn’t too sweet. It's rare to find downright
good lasagna like this around. If you choose this when you get a Kitchen
Favorites meal, know that I'm with you on that. :D
While Mustachio was feeling guiltless
with his Chicken Waldorf sandwich that met my expectations of just being a
Waldorf Salad in a sandwich, my Roast Beef Dylan arrived at the table for my
entree round 2.
Roast Beef Dylan thinly sliced tender roast beef smothered with sautéed onions & mushrooms and topped with melted cheese; served w/ bread or rice |
It honestly didn't look much, but as
soon as I ate it, the flavors made a statement in my mouth. Smokiness came out
of nowhere and I bet you I made every tender sliver of beef tumble around in my
mouth before I swallowed it towards its fate - in my belly. I was very decisive
to have this because they were now serving this with rice. If you read my old
post about 10 Dove as I mentioned earlier in this post, I had this as a
sandwich the last time. I enjoyed it more this time with rice though! I had
half my giant lasagna already so as much as I wanted to eat more, I could only
finish half of my rice; but I did finish all that beef! There was just a
bit too much onion, I had to dig around a bit for the beef.
Aahh… It couldn't get any better than
this. But wait, there was still dessert to be had! The renowned cakes are the
dessert for the set meals, lined up like candidates on the counter for our
picking. Along our meal, I noticed that the cakes would constantly be refilled
or replaced because they quickly sold out. So, if you see a flavor that you
like, make sure to reserve it right before your meal starts so they can keep a
slice for you 'til then.
I knew their Chocolate Decadence was
unquestionably good but after my heavy meal, I just wanted something light to
balance it all out (more like to lessen the guilt). It's great that they have
several fruity cake flavors because I'm a fruit junkie. So, I got the Fruit
Medley and Mustachio chose Strawberry Chocolate.

Happy, happy, joy, joy. You can't not
love any of their cakes. Hands with years of experience have lovingly made
these and you can definitely feel the love in every bite. I had the best of
both worlds with my cake, getting both chocolate and my fruit fix! Mustachio
enjoyed his cake, too.
After our more than satisfying meal, we
were ushered to Oakridge's new feature which was their Garden Plaza Cafe. Here,
you can enjoy any item from Pancake House, Starbucks (with 15% surcharge), and
10 Dove Street, in a relaxing setting with the cool, night breeze caressing your
face. Expect to be offered to dine here if any of these outlets are fully
occupied. And why not? There's FREE wifi, live acoustic music will be played
during weekends, and you can even order a slice of cake from 10 Dove for only
P92! They will also be offering more items soon.
The Oakridge Garden Plaza Cafe is open
daily 4:00 - 10:00 P.M. It's the perfect place to unwind, get away from the busy city
streets, and enjoy good food. Reservations for functions are also welcome.
With these new additions
to Oakridge, it's the place to be for a great meal and to relax the night away.
You can enjoy it with family, friends, your lover, and even by yourself! I'll
definitely add this to my list of places where I can be alone and write.
10 Dove Street, on the other hand, is
as promising as ever, serving up lovingly prepared food with great service.
Make sure to check it out and maybe even bring home a whole cake! I still want
to go back for other enticing menu items that I spotted such as their Cheddar
Shrimp and California Dreamin' Sandwiches. 10 Dove Street also welcomes
reservations for special occasions or corporate functions. They can accommodate
up to 38 people and can serve buffet.

Hi! I really like your blog and was really happy to learn that 10 Dove Street still exists. I've seen their menu before including that for buffet and was wondering if they serve paella ala carte. I will certainly try your suggestion and they all look so good! More power and God bless.
