The Suite Room: Old Favorites, New Favorites

The restaurant that charms people with its plush ambience and equally alluring food is dishing out new items that will surely give you more reasons to keep coming back.

The Suite Room continues to create a unique experience for you as you step into a cozy yet classy ambience that makes you forget the busyness and noise of the real world while enjoying heartwarming quality meals. I still can't forget my first dining experience in this restaurant that has left an imprint on my palate. You can read about it in the link below:

This restaurant has become a favorite to many with their quality meals and service that satisfy one's perception of value for money. With that, I'll gladly share some of my old favorites as well as the new ones from their new additions on the menu.

Let's start off with the old favorites...

Skewered Shrimps in a Blanket  P158
This is one of my favorite appetizers. Well, because I love shrimps and cajun-spiced anything. I also love how the crostini adds to the texture of this dish. And c'mon, anything wrapped with bacon is a winner. The Suite Room somehow consistently cooks their shrimps perfectly juicy and plump.

Valentines Resto Destinations 2014

It’s love month once again and I’ve already had several people ask me for Valentine’s resto recommendations as early as mid-January. Of course, I love helping you out with your foodie dilemmas so I’m making this one of my yearly routine posts now.

Unfortunately, this post came out too late because of unending schoolwork and business matters that constantly interrupted my schedule for this post. I am terribly sorry for the delay, dear readers. Believe me, this was set to be published by the first day of the month. Anyway, in this case, let's just bring to mind that Valentine's should not merely be a one-day celebration but instead, one that is year-round with the likes of Christmas. :)

I know celebrating an occasion on the actual day is one of the ways to make it special as it is. But honestly, I don’t get why almost everyone would want to go out all at once on the same day just to have a “romantic” date. I mean, why go through all the trouble of getting stuck in traffic and spending on ridiculously expensive bouquets of flowers, chocolates or whatnots just to end up eating in a resto packed with other couples? I personally wouldn’t mind having that romantic date on another day when it’s calmer, way less crowded, and you can truly enjoy the ambiance and each other’s company. But yeah, I guess most girls would go on b*tch fits for not getting to go out on Valentine’s day itself. Haha. Condolence to you and your wallets, gentlemen. :))

I broke down the list into 4 categories hoping it’s more helpful this way:

Love on Top
If you can’t buy her diamonds, you can buy her a great view of the city lights that sparkle in the romantic twilight instead. Whether you’re that guy proposing to his girl who is afraid of heights to compel her to say yes (or vice versa), or you both just wanna feel like Aladdin and Jasmin on a static magic carpet ride, these spots are perfect for those who want to take their relationship to the next level. ;)

Anzani & Bellini
Panorama Heights, Nivel Hills, Lahug, Cebu City

Tel: (032) 2327375

You can either have a full course menu in this Mediterranean restaurant or enjoy the view at Bellini with champagne or some wine and tasty antipasti.

Blue Elephant Sky Lounge
19/F Apple One Tower, Biliran Road, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City

Tel. no: (032) 511 7600

If you’ve seen photos of a great view of the Ayala Terraces and its new expansion, then you know what I mean. This new resto that just opened late last year sparked an intriguing trend in Facebook and Instagram from photos of its amazing view.

Savor Asian fusion cuisine with a bottle of red wine and marvel at the beautiful landscaping of The Terraces or just enjoy the cool night breeze.

Valentines Resto Destinations 2013

I've been asked by friends and readers recently for valentine resto suggestions. Which reminds me, that day when roses and flowers suddenly pop out everywhere in bouquets is fast approaching; that day when the loveless dread the question "Where's your date?"

It's always been just another day for me but okay lovebirds, this one's for you. Here's a list of resto's I'd love to be at if I had a date for Valentines. I haven't made reviews for some resto's yet though so I just added links to other awesome bloggers who did. Hope this helps! :)

Cebu Secret Chows: Sprockets Cafe

On the same day that I set up BlissfulBites at Tea & Symphony (yay!), I was invited by my friend Ejay of ZageMedia Productions, to the launching of Sprockets Café, another milk tea café. Honestly, I’m getting quite tired of the growing number of this fad. All of them are nice hangouts and serve ALMOST the same thing, it’s getting confusing where to go. Well, the good thing is, you can have your milk tea fix almost anywhere now. But this one was different -- a good different. Real food is served here, and not just those Taiwanese snacks. I’ve been hearing from some friends (and seen some pics on FB) that the food and the place is unique and good, its concept inspired from photography. It is also in a quite secluded spot hence a “Cebu Secret Chow” qualifier. Though I already had a large dose of milk tea earlier at Tea & Symphony, I didn’t mind having to taste another one from here. The babe is always up to try anything new. ;)

So, when I finally came to this interesting new find with Ejay and Mary Angeli Bas of foodiecraft.com, I was instantly impressed by the set up. Mary and I squealed with excitement as we entered and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on the food (haha). The tiny open kitchen at the counter was what caught my eye first, and then the colorful lomo collage wall. I’ve just recently (around last year) discovered my appreciative artsy fartsy side and this place just drew me – a place for the eyes, tongue and belly! Indeed, an entertaining hub for the senses.

Most of the details were really attractive: the spherical lights from the ceiling, the comfy and chic furnishing, the complementing color scheme, the open kitchen (of course), the lomo wall! and even the name of the café. The atmosphere stimulates creativity and innovation. It was fully packed that day but I’m sure it would make for a great hangout when there are less people; that kinda place where you can refresh your mind or even be artistically inspired and treat your tummy, too!

the coolest spot in the room: the lomo wall :D

But first, why “Sprockets”? Rachel Arandilla, the beautiful and creative young proprietor and friend of Ejay, explained that her interest in photography, specifically lomography of which she is a member of an exclusive group called Analog Cebu, is the main inspiration for the whole concept. Sprockets are the small wheels with teeth found inside the camera that keep the film in place by holding on to the sprocket holes.

For the launching, the café catered with food from their own menu; perfect chance to taste their dishes! Though the food was served a bit late, it was worth the wait (I’m rhyming now? Lol). Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was soooo good! They were pretty organized and I was drooling watching them plate the dishes.

with good guacamole!!! nom nom nom

food is what brings us together ;)
Rachel’s fiancé, L.A, is the artist behind the nifty gastronomic offerings here. He happens to be a fellow schoolmate from ICAAC (a few batches ahead of me). Yeah, proud of that school. The food menu is composed of Holga appetizers, Pizza, Polaroid Pasta and The Main Event. It is adequately limited in selections and everything is a must try. My favorites were the quesadillas, margherita pizza and philly cheese steak! :D

The milk tea here is offered in two sizes, 16 oz and 22 oz. Ejay recommended the taro milk tea for me and Mary took my suggestion for the toasted hazelnut milk tea, both our drinks at 50% sweetness level. And both were great! Rachel also took photos of and with us using her polaroid camera. Cute! She pinned the photos on a corkboard on the wall near the counter. Spot us there!

I’d have to say, this is the perfect milk tea café yet; ample choices of unique milk tea flavors and great food served along with it. And the ambience, of course, is a big bonus. I mean, for milk tea, Cobo and Tea & Symphony are also really good but this has to be my favorite place yet. I can imagine artists, photographers, writers, or even students and professionals lingering here. And I think it’s also a family-friendly place. No liquor is served here; just good old hot, iced or blended coffee, and milk tea. Check it out for yourself! I’m sure you’ll love it.
